Keeping multiple characters in LifePop: a guide to save slots

Start another life, return to a favourite character and keep your saves organised.

Perhaps you’re enjoying a character’s career but want to try a completely different beginning. Or you’ve built a family you want to return to while exploring a new ambition.

LifePop supports up to 20 saved characters through save slots. You play one active life at a time and can switch between the characters you’ve saved.

The important part is choosing the right option. Starting a separate character, loading an existing life and copying a save do different things.

Here’s how to keep your lives organised.

Find your save slots

While signed in and online, open Profile → Account → Save Slots.

You can reach Profile from the three-dot menu beside your character’s name on the Life screen.

The save-slot list shows your saved lives and marks the active slot. Unused spaces appear under Empty slots; expand that section to see them.

Use the same LifePop account when you want to access the same cloud saves. If the game asks you to reconnect, restore your online session before managing them.

Start another character without replacing this one

To keep your current character and begin a separate life:

  1. Open Profile → Account → Save Slots.
  2. Expand Empty slots, if needed.
  3. Select an empty slot.
  4. Choose Start New Life.
  5. Complete character creation.

LifePop checks that the destination is empty and saves your current life on the device before opening character creation. If it can’t save your current life or verify the destination, it stops the transition and shows a message.

Use Start New Life from an empty save slot when you want to keep both characters. The ordinary Start New Life option outside this flow can replace the character you’re currently playing.

For example, you could keep your first character in one slot, create a different starting story in another and return to either life later.

Switch back to a saved character

When you’re ready to return to another life:

  1. Open Save Slots.
  2. Select the slot containing that character.
  3. Choose Switch + Load, followed by the slot’s name.
  4. Wait for loading to finish, then check the character shown.

LifePop saves a device checkpoint of the outgoing character before switching to another slot. The selected life then becomes active.

Switching changes which character you’re playing. It doesn’t combine their money, relationships or careers.

You may also see Load on the slot that is already active. That option reloads the slot from the cloud. It is different from uploading your latest progress, so check which action you need before selecting it.

Give your slots useful names

A clear name makes it easier to find the right life.

Select a slot and choose Rename Slot, then enter a name you’ll recognise. You could use the character’s name, their ambition or a short description:

  • Maya: first family
  • Alex: business career
  • Royal starting life
  • Vampire story

Renaming changes the slot’s visible label. It doesn’t create a new character or change the life stored inside it.

Choose names that help you distinguish similar characters, especially as your collection grows.

Know what belongs to a character

Each saved life keeps its own character progress, including their age, money, career, relationships, health, possessions and family story.

Some progress belongs to your account and is shared across lives. This includes account-wide collections and unlocks such as Popfigs, collectibles, achievements and themes.

You don’t need a separate account for each character.

The distinction matters when starting another life: your new character has their own circumstances, while your account-wide collection remains connected to you. A new save slot also doesn’t create a separate balance of purchased Poppit tokens.

Understand copying before using it

A slot’s options also include Copy Current To, followed by the destination’s name.

This copies the life you’re currently playing into that slot. It does not create a fresh character.

The confirmation explains that copying replaces the destination’s cloud save and makes that slot active. If another character is stored there, you would be replacing that save.

Use the options according to what you want to do:

Your goalOption to use
Create a separate characterStart New Life in an empty slot
Return to another saved characterSwitch + Load
Change a slot’s visible nameRename Slot
Upload your current progressSync Now to Cloud
Copy your current life into a destination slotCopy Current To

For most players building a collection of different characters, the first two options are the ones to use regularly.

Sync before moving to another device

A save on your device and a save in the cloud aren’t always at the same point.

Before continuing on another device, connect to the internet and use Sync Now to Cloud in your account controls. Wait for the sync to finish successfully.

If you’ve recently played several characters, sync each life whose latest progress you want available elsewhere. Syncing the active character shouldn’t be treated as confirmation that every other slot has just been uploaded.

On the other device, sign in to the same account, open Save Slots and load the character you want to continue.

Remember the direction:

  • Sync Now to Cloud uploads your current progress.
  • Load or Switch + Load brings a saved life from the cloud into play.

If a slot won’t open or a new life won’t start

Read the message before choosing another action.

If LifePop asks you to reconnect, check your connection and sign-in session, then try again.

If it says the slot already contains a life, choose another empty slot.

If it can’t verify that the slot is empty, reconnect and retry. A missing or unavailable summary doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no character saved there.

If your current life could not be saved, check the device-storage message and address it before switching.

Avoid using Copy Current To as a workaround for a loading problem: that action replaces the destination save.

Make room for another story

You don’t have to finish one character’s entire life before trying another.

Keep your current life in its slot, choose an empty space for your next character and give each slot a name you’ll recognise. When you want to return, use Switch + Load.

Your family story, career ambition and next unusual beginning can each have a place of their own.
